The
Place
In August 2004 a fresh new haven was planted in Manhattan’s
flower district with the opening of Serenity Spa, located on
Sixth Avenue. Bathed in glowing peach tones, soft calming music
and a lush atmosphere of warmth, cleanliness and tranquility,
Serenity is not just the name of the spa – it is the full
experience. The creation of a criminal defense lawyer and an
architect, Glenn and Maria Hardy, Serenity Spa is designed to
be a peaceful refuge amidst the commonplace Manhattan madness.
"Signature Treatment Room" "The Escape Treatment
Room" During her career as an architect, Maria Hardy designed
and served as a design consultant for several upscale spas throughout
New York, including the chic Ajune Spa. When it came to their
own spa, the Hardys envisioned the design with an emphasis on
nature. Maria drew from her background in architecture to accomplish

essential details for producing the desired ambiance with rich
cherry wood furniture and peach walls in the foyer and main
room. Pristine white tiles extend from the reception area to
the three plush, private rooms for multipurpose pampering and
one wet room. The suspended glass shelves and the bay windows
produce a lighting effect that instantly lifts the mood and
calms the air.
Maria, a veteran in the industry, gained her early experience
from managing the spa in Peru that her family owned. She and
her husband Glenn agreed that providing a comforting escape
from the hectic, fast-paced life of New Yorkers was necessary.
"As an attorney, especially in criminal defense, I'm always
looking for an exit strategy," says Glenn, "Serenity
Spa serves as a temporary exit for many". Their motto and
promise is to provide their clients with "A Better Sense
of Being".
