Many a tear fell in Tinseltown when the
historic Hollywood Star Lanes received a final 10-pin knockdown
in 2002. Kingpins can now rejoice with the opening of this upscale
bowling club in the Hollywood & Highland megaplex. The impeccably
shiny and neon-lit interior combines the past with the present.
Modern touches like floor-to-ceiling video screens at the end of
the 12 lanes mesh well with nostalgic niceties, including the long
wooden bar top, which was actually Lane 16 at the Star Lanes. Art,
movie clips and music videos flash on-screen as DJs deliver danceable
grooves. A fairly priced Americana menu is available in the upper
dining area.
Bowling has rarely been associated with classy and cool until now,
so don't be surprised to be rocking and rolling next to martini-swiggers
like Vince Vaughn, Alyssa Milano and Kelly Osbourne.
