Just four miles northwest of Disneyland,
in Buena Park, CA, is Knott’s Berry Farm, ‘Anaheim’s
other theme park’.
With its roots in the agricultural past of Orange County, Knott’s
Berry Farm is actually located on an area that used to be a berry
farm. The introduction of themed rides and attractions, sometime
back in the 30’s, was done as a commercial stunt to attract
customers.
Today Knott’s Berry Farm is a relatively large-scale theme
park which is both less crowded and much more thrilling than Disneyland.
Visitor can enjoy several roller coasters, which perform vertical
maneuvers as well as more tame rides.
Locals flock to Knott's Berry Farm in the second half of October,
when the entire park is revamped as "Knott's Scary Farm."
The ordinary attractions are made spooky and haunted, every grassy
area is transformed into a graveyard or gallows, and even the already-scary
rides get special surprise extras, like costumed ghouls who grab
your arm in the middle of a roller-coaster ride!
