Bobby Flay's famous restaurant - the one that started his rise to 'celebrity chef' status. Eating Here I know why!
Brunch at the Mesa Grill was amazing! We were seated upstairs and had a commanding view of the entire place. The restaurant is huge with an open kitchen set away in the back.
We ordered drinks and looked into the open kitchen to see if Bobby Flay was toiling over the stove – he was not. The drinks came – Bobby’s Tropical Rum Blast for me (and it WAS a blast) and beer for Paul. They were soon followed by a bread basket filled with muffins, corn bread, and coffee cake with a sweet chili pepper dipping sauce. The entire basket was wonderful. The biscuits were light and flakey with the perfect amount of spice, the sauce was amazing and the coffee cake was perfect.
We ordered appetizers and a main course even though we normally don't eat that much for lunch. Paul ordered the pumpkin and Mexican cinnamon soup and I had the pulled pork quesadilla. Both were amazing. We agreed on the spot that we would never eat at bad Mexican restaurants again!
For our main course I ordered the Mesa Burger because I was craving red meat and Paul ordered the scrambled eggs chiliquiles with roasted tomatillo sauce, white cheddar cheese and sour cream. Both arrived perfectly prepared and presented.
Brunch for two, with drinks, appetizers and main course came to $70 with tip – more than I might normally spend at lunch but for food this good I didn’t care. I had a great dining experience at Mesa Grill. The food and service were both excellent, and the ambience, although a bit noisy, is fun.
