Vakhtang Darchinyan

Vic Darchinyan (Armenian, born January 7, 1976 in Vanadzor, Armenia) is the current IBF champion of the flyweight division. He is a southpaw boxer, who currently trains under former 3-division world champion, Jeff Fenech in Sydney, Australia.
Darchinyan's amateur career was 158-18 record with 105 knockouts, [1] all but twenty of them were in Armenia, as he participated for Armenia in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He went to the third round in the 112 lb division before losing against Bulat Jumadilov of Kazakhstan. Darchinyan moved to Australia after competing in the Olympics, eventually became an Australian citizen on July 7, 2004. Darchinyan turned pro at age 24 on November 3, 2000.
He won his IBF title on December 16, 2004, in his first fight in the United States, beating respected champion Irene Pacheco of Colombia, via 11 round technical knock-out. He has since made four successful defences of the title winning all by stoppage.
Darchinyan is known as a power puncher which is seen as unusual for a flyweight. In his third title defence, he displayed his power by knocking out Diosdado Gabi with a single straight left. Darchinyan is looking forward towards his fight with Jorge Arce, a Mexican flyweight. He has a current record of 27-0, with 21 wins coming by way of knockout.
